If you've never heard of Barbuda Island, it's o . k .. Most folk have never heard about it which is why it's such a remarkable holiday location. The tropical isle is part of a three island state that is linked with Antigua and Redonda. It is positioned in the northeastern Caribbean, within the Leeward Islands.
In essence it's only a 20 minute flight from Antigua. If you're looking for some excitement, its a 3 hour boat ride from Antigua.
A good time of the season to visit is around November to April. While you're there you can enjoy the white and pink sandy shoreline together with the coral reefs and also a handful of shipwrecks. You can even play golf and tennis and enjoy snorkeling and diving, though personally I merely like to take it easy on the beach and there are few places more beautiful on the globe to do it.
This is really an pristine paradise, not your average tourist beach vacation spot crammed with chubby tourist jockeying to see the sights. The beaches are relaxed, strewn with seashells and a large expanse of calm blue-green Caribbean seawater.
If you're looking for sea turtles and other tropical fish then investigate the shipwrecks. Many of them lie undisturbed within the beautiful blue green turquoise sea water.
If you're searching for just a little action then pop over to nearby Antigua Island to enjoy many common vacation activities. Antigua hosts over 5,000 elegant frigate birds who reside on the northwestern lagoon around the bird sanctuary.
Barbuda is just 15 miles long by about 9 miles wide. The island itself is mainly rocky and comparatively flat though blanketed in bush. The animals you might come upon can include dear and boar as well as turtles and guinea fowl. Cattle, horses, and also donkeys stroll around with sheep and goats who have a tendency to walk freely in the different villages. Like I said, this is a very laid-back destination.
