The Bahamas Bahamas: Weddings

Wedding Fees: $40.00

Minister's Fee:

  • For weekday weddings $150.00
  • Weekend weddings $175.00
  • Rehearsal/off island weddings from $50.00 per hour

General Requirements:

  • Marriage License from Registrar's General's Dept.
  • Individuals must be on the island one day prior to the wedding
  • Both parties must be present in the Bahamas to apply for the Marriage License; the license is valid for 3 months.
  • Minors must present parental consent.
  • The original document of Divorce Decree or Death Certificate where necessary.
  • Picture identification, Passport for Commonwealth residents
  • No blood test required
  • Evidence of date of arrival on the island (airline ticket or immigration card)
  • For unmarried citizens or residents of the USA, a sworn declaration of national status must be made before a US Counselor at the American Embassy, Nassau or Notary Public. The cost is $55.00
  • Unmarried individuals who are not citizen or resident of the USA must present a declaration made before a Notary Public in Nassau along with the application for marriage certifying this fact.

Marriage licenses can be obtained at the office of the Registrar General located in the Rodney Bain Building. Address: Parliament and Shirley Street, Nassau Hours of Business: Mon -Fri. 8:30 A.M. - 4:30 P.M.
