Barbados is the most populace and bustling island nation situated in the east of Caribbean Sea and west of the Atlantic Ocean. Being the part of eastern islands of Lesser Antilles, Saint Lucia and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines are it's closest neighbors. The island is almost stretched to 166 square miles and is primarily composed of coral and limestone. According to UN's UNDP Barbados has have the highest literacy rate and standard of living in the world. It has been also rated as number one developing nation and the most popular tourist attraction.

Delving in to Barbados's history, its name was derived by a Portuguese explorer known as Pedro Campos in 1536. He originally named this island as Los Barbados meaning 'The Bearded Ones' by seeing island's big fig trees, whose long hanging aerial roots resembled him as the beard. Being the most popular tourist attraction, every year millions of tourists flock this island and enjoy island's never ending beauty. Barbados has got the single and major airport called Sir Grantley Adams International Airport, which witnesses the arrival of several major airlines around the globe. Nowadays, this mammoth airport is undergoing US$100 Million up-gradation and expansion.

Barbados has got myriad of audacious activities to tickle your adventure bone wherein scuba diving, snorkeling and cave exploration are the popular ones. Barbados's southern and western coasts are very famous among the tourists, as they love to sit on white and pinkish sand beach in front of light blue Caribbean Sea, which sets the perfect ambience for the honeymooners. Very few know that Barbados is one of the final venues which is going to host Cricket World Cup 2007, this has already created a buzz among the tourist and they are in hunt to get their tickets booked well in advance.
