instead of 3/4 cup cornmeal, I used 1 cup of self-rising cornmeal. No baking powder/salt needed when using self-rising. I use Turbinado sugar or brown sugar. It gives it a sweeter taste - no too much, but tastier than white granulated sugar. I use "Pam" non stick spray in my pan.
My family eats it up, but I still desire the Johnny Cake recipe that is more on the bread side and not cornmeal.
The Johhny cakes alot! there tasty not to sweet and are not to biier at all. But I have one question are they sapposed to be tiny or are they sopposed to be an actual cake?
