I had a lot of trouble remembering the correct spelling of this particular word in school...it wasn't until someone told me, "Look ya, remembah di carib dem and how much u like u beans..." and that was it! Never misspelt it again....lol

If I am not mistaken, I think it is related to the Caribs, which were one of the natives of the area.
