 Topic: Where should they live?In his/her country Posted: 06 Dec 2003 at 7:35am |
When a romance get started and both people come to the conclusion that they want to get married and live that happier ever after life.
They are not from the same country. Where should they live?
Should they live in the male's country or the woman's?
Should they move to another country and live there?
Most people don't discuss ideas like that until the last min.
What's your opinion?

I think that it should be a mutual decision based on the opportunities that are available to them.
For example, economic factors should be considered. If both work, it might be wise to move where will they both have better prospects for good employment. If one has a significantly better paying job that the other one, it might be wise to move to the country where he/she works. If only one works, then it might be wise to move to the country where the person who works works.
There are too many factors to think about. It must be a joint decision.
I don't think that it should simply be because of one's gender. That ignores way to many other factors that would go into such an important decision.
It's definately something that should be thought out and not done at the last minute.

The bible says that we shouldn't be unequally yoked. Marry someone from the same country as yourself and it will solve the living arrangements.
Just kidding, folks.

I was mostly thinking about people from the West Indies, Scott. Right now some folks I know are having problems about relocating back home. An Antiguan is married to a Trinidadian. He wants to move back to Trini, she would prefer to go back to Antigua. A Crucian (St.Croix born) is married to a Dominican. She loves Dominica and would like to return there. He wants to remain here.
Me, I'd relocate to the UK in a flash of lightning.

Love is too fickle Sandy ... not enough ... best predictor of future behaviour is past behaviour ... that includes mine ... ... serious.

People do not have to be fickle, that is if they're mature individuals and know what they want in life. A lifetime partner, an open marriage or just playing the field.
Sometimes past behavior can help pave the way to better future bahavior.
