Certain titles, like Moderator, are given based on specific experience and duties, rather than how active someone is on the forum, or whether or not they are my or Joseph's friend.  Ilam96 was given Moderator status because she was an experienced moderator, was an active moderator of other Caribbean related forums, and performed the duties of moderator on this website.  Titles like Moderator are not given lightly since that is a very serious position with serious responsibilities, and it is inappropriate and sometimes disasterous to give such a position just because someone is your friend.  Because of this, we usually give the ability to moderate our forums to people who already moderate other forums, although it is possible we make an exception and train someone.  So probably no new moderators for awhile until we get busier.

Also, anyone who achieves an Admiral rank or higher (ranks with gold stars or pips), like Vutjebal and Schucander have distinguished themselves as being the top members on the site.  Changing their rank to something else may actually reduce their prestige rather than expand it.  We regard the Admiral ranks some of the most prestigious ranks on CaribbeanChoice.
