Well let me say first Aruba was beautiful, it is a small island right off the top tip of South America. The people that live there are some of the friendliest people I have ever met.

Pros of Aruba:

There are a few tourist site seeing areas that you can go to in Aruba, the first place that we went to was a place known as the Natural Bridge, it is a bridge made out of solid Rock that was made by mother nature her self.

The second place that we went to was a small Saint Replica there on the east side of the island, not much to see there but some statues of a Saint if you are interested in that kind of thing.

The third place that we went was to a Beach called Baby Beach.  It is the only Beach on the island were topless women are allowed and other beach's it is not allowed.       (I saw only 2 when we went during the day)  :)   That beach is the best beach on the island, not because of the women but because the water is so much clearer, because of the jetties that surround the beach.  The beach is like 2 to 4ft deep about 50 yards out.

Other things that we did were, go to the Light House that is there on the island.  We also went on a daytime boat cruise which was $35 and you were able to snorkel for an Hour, they also had a buffet and all you can drink open bar, along with a 3 hour boat ride.  The we went on the Nighttime Party Boat the TATTOO that was $49.95, there was a lot of dancing and drinking on that boat, and night time swimming and a buffet.

The Con's of Aruba:

I wouldn’t really say these things are bad but here they go, the gas was $1.44 a liter, Food at the restraunts at the Hotels was expensive, DONT EAT THE CHINNESE FOOD, I got sick the next day along with 2 others in our group of 4.  The island is small, once you go everywhere on the island you fell like, what else is there to do, so we spent the remaining days at the beach and the Casino. :)  The TAX was 18%.  Beer was $4 a bottle at most places(Bud Light) except at the Casinos it was FREE. :)

Other Info:

Rent A CAR the Island is so small u cant get lost, and they give you a little map. Car Rental was $35 a day for a economy car 4 people.  Definitely eat at this little Restraunt on the main drag in town called Kings Rib's, they have GOOD BBQ.  There are also plenty of Casino's at every Hotel.  Its not like Vegas where the Casinos are huge, there are a few that are bigger than others though, my Favorite was "Halambra".  We stayed at the Marriott, and it was like $180 a night.  Definitely stay at a named Brand Hotel they are a lot nicer and on the water.  The only useable phone card in Aruba is the AT&T international calling card.  Internet access is like .30 cents a minute, at most places.

Over all I give Aruba 8 out of 10 Stars

Have Fun, Brian

Today that I have read this post, Thanks for coming to Aruba on Vacations.

Safety
Aruba has always been considered one of the safest destinations in the Caribbean, however incidents may occur.  Please do not provide temptation by leaving your valuables unattended on the beach or in your rental car.

vutje, no matter where you roam, if your heart is still yearning for home, you will return there some day. My heart is yearning for a country I love, Dominica, and I know that if God spare my life, I'll visit there some day. I had a dream about that country a couple of nights ago. I dreamt that I was in an area that I grew up in, I stood on the street and shouted, "I love Dominica". When I woke up the next morning, I was full of joy.

First Trip to Aruba
by: Boatman

Before I start let me say that I planned this trip for over a year and tried to read every bulletin board and chat room that I could find. This was probably on of the best trips my wife and I have had, including Jamaica, Bermuda, and Cancun.

We left Tuesday morning and arrived in Charlotte in time to have breakfast at the airport. We got on the airplane which was not full and arrived in Aruba about 4:30 pm their time. We had rented a car so we took off for the resort. The first thing was that I got lost. It took us 30 min. to make the 15 min. trip. We checked into our room with no problems at all. I had contacted Travel Unlimited of New Jersey to book the room. One of the many good things that I got from the chat-room. They got me great rooms and threw in several extras I could not get if I booked direct with the resort. We went down town and ate at Don Carlos' which is right in the middle of the main part of town. We could see the cruise ships and casino at the same time. The food was good and the service was good too.

The next day we drove up to the light house and got a birds eye view of the island. I then dropped my wife off at the Wyndam for a massage and I drove to baby beach for some quick snorkeling. I had booked tickets to the Review at the Wyndam for dinner that night. Save your money. The show was good but the food and service was poor.

Thursday it rained all day so we went into town and shopped most of the day. Dinner was at El Gaucho's. Another great idea I got from the internet. The food was superb and the service was excellent. It was my wife's birthday and the singers came to her table and serenaded her.

Friday we both took the resort Scuba lessons and I went scuba diving for the first time. Loved it and plan to do it again. Dinner was at the Sunset Grill at the Radisson. Food showed poorly to last night and the service wasn't much better. Saturday we booked the safari trip. They let me drive a land rover over the hills of Aruba where even a goat wouldn't go. The nineteen year old guide drives like my kids did when they were teenagers. I tried to keep up and loved it. Hard to choose between the safari and scuba as the best thing of the trip. We drove down to the Flying Fishbone for dinner. Very romantic, dinner on the beach under the stars. Food and service were both excellent. Don't miss this.

Sunday we snorkeled at boca Catalina and baby beach. Both were great. We saw coral and fish both. I couldn't get reservations at the Aqua Grill so we went to Texas De Brazil. Glad we did it was a unique dining experience. They walk around with the meat on squires and put it onto your plate as long as you want to eat. Glad we got to go there. Great food and service again.

Monday was just a sun and shop day. We stayed in the sun as long as we could and then went into town to get something for the grandkids. Dinner was at Madam Jeanette's. Good food, a little over priced and only fair service.

Tuesday we got up and went to the beach before going to the airport for a 3:30 flight. Had no trouble with customs going or coming. I actually had a paper clip in my shirt pocket set off the metal detector, if you can believe that. We plan to go back again. We couldn't do everything that we wanted in just seven days. If anyone wants more detail information, please email me. I just love to talk about this great trip. Thanks to Alan at Travel Unlimited for setting up such a wonderful experience.

Thanx for coming to Aruba....
