Here is another perspective.

Adam had in him the whole human race, both male and female. In Genesis 1 vs 26 God said, Let us make mankind in our own image , after our likeness, and let them have dominion or complete authority over the fish of the sea, the birds of the air, the beasts, and over all of the earth, and over everthing that creeps upon the earth.So God created man in his own image, in the image and likeness of God He created him: male and female. He created them.  So the instinct to dominate is innate to us, even though the word did not say dominate each other.
