It's Carnival time Barranquilla Colombia 2008!!

Carnival Barranquilla from 2 to 5 February 2008

Exemplary carnival
The Herald after 96 hours continues of disguises, dances and songs, during which orchestra and teams of sound ground porros, guaracha dances, vallenatos, sauces and jams, Wednesday of Ash the city woke up as tranquil as if nothing to have occurred.  The people rose early to continue the routine work, invaded by the exhaustion and under the empire of the "guava tree", but satisfied of to have enjoyed fully the traditional one and increasingly more animated festivity.
The sudden step of the crash to the silence was impressive.  Thus it happens when the towns live to the delirium their present, that is what counts at the moment of the balances.  The certain thing is that those crowded concentrations that accompanied to all and each one of the acts of the frantic and peaceful season that has just concluded, they oblige to accept that there is Carnival for many years.  To thanks God, for every Colombia.
It has been a constant work and well oriented the one that has imposed the Foundation Carnival of Barranquilla that presides Roberto of Fort, this time with the charm and the grace of the pretty Queen Claudia Guzman Certain and destined to cover with organization and category a vernacular spectacle that each year is surpassed, in agreement they could verify it to the most lackadaisical.  Evidently without the pomp and wealthy majesty of the extras of Rio of Janeiro, but with the same enthusiasm and without hallucinogens that endanger the health of who they inhale them and they consume viciously.
Aside from the folk aspect, was a real fact the reduction of the violence.  The statistics descended significantly, in agreement declared him touched the Commander of the Atlantic Police, General Brigadier Hector Darío I Neuter Bad-tempered, upon emphasizing "the spirit of cordiality that existed in all the neighborhoods and the discipline shown by the barranquilleros in the spectacles of huge turnout".
The presence of the President Andrés Pastrana Arango and of the First Lady Nohora Puyana of Pastrana, accompanied by various Ministers, Ambassadors, political leaders and other officials of the high Government, only he was not a good prediction but the full confirmation that Barranquilla is and will continue being for excellence the setting of peace of the Colombians.  Is the exemplary sense that has this tradition of the presidential visits to the Battle of Flowers since the times of the National Front.
It enjoyed the Leader of the State with the good humor and exceeded ingenuity of those that know to remove him party to all the events of the to happen national, the same that do of the episodes of the real life an opportunity of fluency, inclusive including he and to its eagerness traveler as motive of the cordial and most ingenious humor, without the characteristic poison of some talents of the interior.
Do not there was in this nonconformity samples occasion by the results of the contests.  All the participants coincided in affirming that the juries responsible for qualifying the extras, the individual disguises, the orchestra, dances and litanies proceeded with absolute impartiality recognizing the merits to each one as main actors of a contest that all take care for enlarging and to encourage incomparably.
Barranquilla responded with success to its well cattle prestige.  Did not only it exceed itself in happiness, but gave a new example of peaceful contact in a country that since time ago lost its course, immersed in a wild violence that requires of these social samples to bury the hatreds and to rescue the contact civilized.  We repeat therefore our journalistic reflection in the sense that to Colombia they cause lacks him many Carnivals as that of Barranquilla and of the Atlantic Coast.  To reach some day the so longed for and I avoid national peace.

Carnaval de Barranquilla 2007 was a blast, so get ready for the next one! The dates for Carnaval de Barranquilla 2008 are February 2 - 5.

Welcome to my Carnaval de Barranquilla website. Here you will find
pictures, video, additional links and information about the city of Barranquilla. Please select your desired option from the menu on the left.

Barranquilla is a wonderful city that's rich in culture, music and life. Barranquilla's Carnival (Carnaval de Barranquilla) is celebrated 4 days before Ash Wednesday, and is broadly recognized as one of the world's largest Carnivals. Some residents even claim that it is second only to the Carnival in Rio de Janeiro.

If you've never experienced Carnaval de Barranquilla then you definitely need to add it to your list of events to experience and places to visit at least once in your life. There are many pictures and video on this site for you to view, so you'll have a good idea of what your missing out on, and hopefully you'll be inspired to go next year!

Before you go to Barranquilla I highly recommend learning some Spanish. I can't emphasize how important it is to be able to speak Spanish while traveling. I found a great conversational Spanish course that I think everyone will enjoy. Even if you already have a basic understanding of the language it's a good idea to brush up on you language skills before you jump on the plane. Check out my links section for more info.
