First ... A smile and a handshake is all you need to initiate contact!
Do it right ... web to web and two to three reasonable pumps ... be considerate.
Maintain eye contact ... do not ask name yet ... focus important ...

Second ... look for people standing in "V" formation ... opening is for you!!As you become more confident ... you may "rescue" the loners ...

Third ... best "ice breaker" is a compliment ...
be honest ... talk about event = easy connection ...
Keep things positive ... never talk about the weather (boring), only if it is your business!!
Never use sarcasm when it is new relationship = big gamble ...
Link conversation to your goal ... eg. who want to meet, solve certain problem, etc.

Fourth ... Have an "elevator Speech" ... that is, who you are, what you do and the value that you bring ... keep it simple and succinct ...
Ask for a card so that you may do follow up and do so within forty eight hours ...

And, what do you do?Never ... never say busy ... share something genuinely exciting ... shows that you are an enthusiastic person and loves life ... People are attracted to that kind of energy ...  ...

Six ... You must be a good listener ... thats big ...Ask a question ... for example, What excites you? What are your goals? What do you love to do? You need not be the most interesting ... you must simply be interested and mean it ... Be willing to share information ... for a true connection, you must present the real you ... Remember how you behave in a comfortable environment. Now bring that feeling to the moment you are making a connection ...  ... easy ...

Accept my congratulations because that the kind of post we like where you can learn from some one. This is great, sometime we must forget the I & Me issue we have to see the big spectrum of life. The wide-angle or the horizon it's beautiful that we call the eye of the tiger. looking big every thing must be big screen oriented. BTW Congrats Grenada first place. whauw........

Thanks Shuc ... I hear you and agree too ... A very wise older friend remarked to me ... "immigrants have a tendency to walk around thinking they are on this perpetual holiday and they are going to dies on holidays" ... means there is little investment in the host country with real negative impact to both ... we must participate in our communities where ever we are to guarantee success ... it is the smart thing to do ... and don't give me the lame excuse of our history of slavery ... it is a cop out as we say ... ... get @#$%ing real ...
