Most of us are aware of the remarks made by President Carter concerning the animosity towards President Obama. He seems to think that it has a lot to do with race and the fact the Obama is an African American.

What do you think?

I don't think that racism is all there is to it. I think just a small percent of the people against Obama just can't accept the fact that a black man is the head honcho in the White House. People will always criticize the decisions made by the leaders of any country - black, white, yellow, etc.

You are right, I share you view.  And I really like the way BO (Barak Obama)  and his admin is handling all this...they are steering clear of Carter's comments. But it is still very alarming how  drastically the death threats against him have increase when comparing him with other US presidents.  Surely that must have to do with his ethnicity.

Yes, it has to do with his ethnicity. If he's assasinated there will be a world war- black against whites, whites against blacks.

Did you notice all the bullet proof glass at his acceptance speech?  I think they all saw Eddie Murphy's skit about the First Black President (NSFW). LOL.  I think they are going to have security to the max so an assassination doesn't happen, so I am not too worried about that. :)

And I think a lot of the animosity towards the President is political and not racist, and at the same time, I know there are hidden racists out there too.  But in reality, in Washington, there is too much money at stake, and too many interests at stake to be worried about a man's race.  Most people up there are more concerned with their own special interests than someone's race. If Obama can further their cause, even if they hate the guy, they will still line up behind him.  And if Obama will harm their cause, they all line up against him even if they like him.  In Washington & politics, its more about special interest than anything else.
