The Johhny cakes alot! there tasty not to sweet and are not to biier at all. But I have one question are they sapposed to be tiny or are they sopposed to be an actual cake?

I've used the recipe w/the following differences: instead of 3/4 cup cornmeal, I used 1 cup of self-rising cornmeal. No baking powder/salt needed when using self-rising. I use Turbinado sugar or brown sugar. It gives it a sweeter taste - no too much, but tastier than white granulated sugar. I use "Pam" non stick spray in my pan. My family eats it up, but I still desire the Johnny Cake recipe that is more on the bread side and not cornmeal.

It's delicious!
I made this recipe last night and I like it a lot! Quick and easy to make. It goes so well with butter I haven't even tried jam. I prefer it warm. It is soft and the butter soaks in well. It is also a nice light snack.
