IMHO real travelling anywhere is when tou don't stay in resort and go "outside" to the town and meet locals, visit many places, towns in that country, eat local, drink local... visit monuments, museums and also ordinary streets, cafes, restaurants and when you are lucky, homes.

... i think it is experienceing the culture and country outside of the tourist persona ... participate ... share ... experience ... guided tours rarely gives you an opportunity to do that ... house swaps are great ... windjammers are the best to sail the islands ...

On your next tour, tour the Caribbean, Roggy. Get some sunshine, local food and drinks, bathe in the sulphur spring in Dominica, eat some mountain chicken (frogs, I think).
