Conjure up for a minute what life would be without Cyberspace.Would we be able to cope with its disappearance ; can the money markets  survive ; will society as we know it be thrown into chaos ? Let's think about it..it may one day go down for 48 hours....no worst case scenarios.

lol, in li'l ole Belize, we were out of all telecommunication services for almost a week, and no the world didn't end, but business was almost put to a stand sill....luckily...it was "almost"....some business hurriedly went to purchase their satellite dishes etc., but its not difficult to survive outside of cyberworld, we'd just have to revert to the ole times and the methods that have since revolutionized the world as we now know it

I was joking in the last post.

I personally could live without the internet for 48 hours or even a week, but there would be a slight problem with earning income since everything I do that generates income involves computers or the internet.  Without the internet, I would have to figure out some other way to make a living.

Somehow I don't think they'd be selling too well without the internet.

well the internet is only one of the (bigger) perks for getting a computer....most businesses would still use it to register sales and do some accounting you know

Aroused from a drunken stupor I opened my eyes to see a towering silhouette
of a being covered in a ghoulish scarlet robe that covered the feet. There
was no visible face as two holes in a clanish hood were all that gave the
feeling that the  firey beams behind them were eyes. I had by this time
wet my pants and out of fear queried:'Who the hell are You.' A voice, the
frequency of which, resonated in every bone and sinew of my wretched being
slowly said :' I am the Apha and the Omega..I am, the great Eraser.'

Still numbed and barely audible I asked : 'Eraser for what?' IT now spoke
for the second time : You have tinkered with little specks of plastic and
metal and have made rudimentary computers..yes, your playthings of the
present and future. Lest you go too far I have been sent by the Lord of
Seagate to erase every bit of data stored on these childish things where
ever they are found.' Still slightly audible I asked: 'when ?'The reply
was :' now and for ever more.'

I am now fully sober..I shall have a change of pants..the message is clear..
the Eraser is at work...I thought for a moment to Backup my 4 gig hard
drive and send it far far away for storage..it's no use..I don't know if
this message will even get through..adios.

We do make backups daily, but all the copies are still here in Houston, which doesn't help us if we have a disaster.

That's okay, Mate.  There's plenty of rum to go around. Now swab the deck before ye have another vision.

I think i'm leaving the navy...no iffs or butts....some of these officers talk down to the juniors in a most condescending manner. I'll now have sufficient to drink and have my visitations.

Yes, but you are the same rank as Duck Sauce now.  You don't have to take his orders. You can build a kinder gentler navy.

Battle of the sexes?

I think I need to modify the forum to show people's sexes (for those who wish to reveal it).

Fine the way it is..doan worry 'bout a thing..that's the beauty of Cyberspace...it's always a guessing game..we can even cross gender..it's all about annonymity.

True.  That's why its optional to give your gender in the profile.  Although some forums display that information, and I thought it was a nice touch.
