Meditation and music works for me ... actually just being quiet ... real solitude.

In the summer I find gardening really gratifying and therapeutic.

So you are a "busy body" eh, V Big%20smile.
Yes, music is a "food of life" ... it certainly feeds the soul ... ever imagine how it all started way back in time ... I understand it had to do with the heart beat ... could put one into a trance ... very powerful if you really get into it.

I find it fascinating Roggy ... how different aspects of our lives have evolved to what we take for granted today and how much things are changing as we speak ... or has it really?
Sometimes I wonder if its just a figment of our infinite imagination ... really interesting ... what is fact really, a different perspective or spin as we say in the west?

C-Eve, I like your nick name

...and yes, it's fascinating. I saw the movie of our traveller and director Barabas who was at the expedition on Papua New Guinea where people live who have never seen white man and they live like in stone age. I often think about their life. The movie is called Pururambo.

Okay C-Eve...I understand  the nickname...

Roggy, here in the  Netherlands  there is  or was  a program, where a Dutch Family and Belgium Family are going  to Papua New Guinea  and  another country  too.  And  then they have to stay a week or three, trying  to share everything  together...oops  the  Dutch Family  the kids or the wife crying  , they can't accept to share culture >LOL<  and  the  two or three members of the Papua New Guinea family  is coming to The Netherlands...  and you know what can happens,  Snow, Train, Sex on TV, and not to mention  the Coffeeshop's .

And btw.....Cowboy promised us  a CaribbeanChoice get together party...or not???

Thanks Roggy, am glad you like my nickname.
About that party ... would it be a virtual one or real ... either way I think it will be a blast ... talk about "outing"!!

The different nuances of other cultures are fascinating and what we take for granted could be quite challenging or downright scary ... being out of one's comfort zone could be very uncomfortable when the events are unanticipated.

So a party is in the works ... can't wait Big%20smile.

Anybody is welcomed in Slovakia, e.g. we are preparing the reggae festival in the end of the summer 2008 (August). The accomodation will be in your own tent in the beautiful area of Bratislava's lake called Golden Sands (cheap solution)... Hmmm, but yes, it's very far. And that's the biggest problem.

I would say that one thing I do is take a day off every week where I do almost nothing.  No house chores.  No social calls.  No work.  No agenda.  No deadlines.  No schedule.  And I just relax.  If I want to sleep until noon, I do.  If I want to do nothing, I do nothing.  If I want to do something around the house, I do it.  If I want to post on the internet, I do it.

The key thing is that on that day I am not required to do anything.  Everything I do on that day is because I alone chose to do so.  Not because it has to be done.  Not because someone told me to do it or wants me to do it.

It's my day off, and if I don't want to answer the phone, I don't even do that.

The rest of the week is full of deadlines and goals and calls and e-mails and serving others, that for one day a week, it is whatever I want to do.

I love serving people, which I do all week.  But to balance things, once I week I think of me.

I don't always take my day off, but when I do, it is usually Saturday or Sunday.

I would say that most people fall into one of two extremes:  either they are too busy helping others to take care of themselves, or they are so busy taking care of themselves they don't care about others.  Very few people seem to be balanced where they take care of themselves and others.

All true ... seems like maintaining balance is very tricky and difficult ... then again, on the continuum, passion and extreme do bring extraordinary results ... guess its a matter of what works for the individual and the price one is willing to pay ... with me it is continually changing as the "forces" pull in so many directions ... or maybe average is just playing it safe!?!

June, it's hard to say NO but you have to realize that people won't love you more when you say YES to all and people won't hate you more when you say NO. Take care of yourself and listen to your needs too.

Oefs, roggy...Yesterday went to visit my aunt in the hospital. SmileWhen she saw me ,after a longtime ago.......She just asked me javascript:void%280%29;">11.gif%20wow%20image%20by%20c_c_c2 ..Where is my beautiful girl, my sweet girl and the nice girl gone???11.gif%20wow%20image%20by%20c_c_c2 After that she start asking  me  what is wrong, why I don't take care of myself  and stop worry about others. ect ect so you know  the  rest...Shocked

You must learn to say no before you can truly say yes.

Be good to yourself and learn to draw some lines.

Scott, there's another, 4th group, I think. People who don't take care of others nor themselves. They only work, can't relax and don't have time to help others.

True, but in some ways, they are only thinking of themselves and their needs (i.e. their work or their paycheck).

I guess it would be useful to distinguish between people who take from others and people who don't.

Regardless of the nature of the relationship ... all the participants are exchanging efforts, some in higher doses than others (positive or negative or both) ... key is setting boundaries and being true to one's self ... intention is our guide.
The exchange is influx and we are all giving or taking at some point in the dynamics ... is our intention to give or receive or both? We may not always find balance in each incident but in the bigger picture things usually balance out ... some call it karma!

Step outside your comfort zone and do something nice for a stranger ... eg pay for coffee for person behind you in line or at toll booth, pick up garbage in your neighborhood, mow a senior's lawn, volunteer in your community, etc

You would not believe the high ... altruism does great things for the brain ... even better to remain anonymous ... unbelievable how good you will feel ...
