
St. Barthelemy: Things to Do
A butterfly shaped island with lush tropical rainforest and spectacular
beaches and a landscape that enhances all that is St. Barts. The calm,
unhurried island is a fusion of two cultures, the French and Creole with a
distinct Caribbean flavor. Ideal weather that ranges within 76-86 degrees
makes it ideal for vacationing all through the year. Though small in stature
the island boasts of 14 beautiful beaches, a marine park that is home to
pelicans and other bird species. A diamond in the rough, this tiny eight
square miles island is a prime vacation spot waiting to be discovered.
Volleyball:
One of the more popular sports on the island, with competitions both on
the beach and hardtop courts all year. Helene Hughes-Clery a French
professional introduced the sport to the island and since then the sport has
take on a non-stop popularity that extends to every age group and gender.
Tennis:
Bring your rackets or rent some and have a game at any one of the courts
available. Many of the hotels on the islands are equip with their own courts,
which makes accessibility very easy during the day or night. Although there
is ideal weather all year, it is recommended that players keep away from the
high noon sun.
Hiking:
Take a walk and discover the magic of the island. Because of the small
size of the island, the trails are not very difficult, but yet prove to be a
very interesting excursion.
Scuba Diving:
The underwater attraction is one that is a beauty to behold. This
exhibition is a unique and exciting experience of beautiful coral reefs and
spectacular marine life. This is the experience of a lifetime and everyone
should take the dive and experience the magic.
Fishing:
Fishing is a natural pastime on the island for the local and vacationers
alike. On a normal day you can bring a catch of blue or white Marlins, Tunas and
Barracudas. Have your catch prepared by the hands of the chef of your hotel.
