Carnival is the most anticipated cultural event of the year in Haiti. Carnival is a festival event celebrating freedom through dancing, singing, parades, pageantry, music, drinks, food, friends and fun. It draws from elements of the African and French customs, including music, masquerades and dancing. Carnival is much more than a large part is the cultural glue that binds people together. A flair in the music that comes from Haiti is zook, which is a mixture of African and French Creole. Pageants and floats are in the streets and everyone have a great time.
