Carnival in Honduras

Carnival is one of the most anticipated cultural event of the year in
Honduras. carnival is a festive event celebrating freedom through dancing,
singing, parades, pageantry, music and people having great fun.
La Ceiba is a very important city in Honduras and carnival is
celebrated there during the third week of May. Actually, there are
festivities in just about every town to celebrate saint's days. The fair
for the Virgen de Suyapa, patron saint of Honduras, is celebrated there in
Suyapa, which is about four miles south-east of Tegucigalpa, during the
first two weeks of February. Services and festivities attract pilgrims
from all over the world and especially in Central America.
There are other carnivals celebrated in other cities such as as Copan
Ruinas which runs for six days after the middle of March. There is a
carnival in mid-June and one in Trujillo on the last Saturday in June. The
carnival in San Pedro Sula is the last weekend in June and the carnival in
Danli is celebrated in the last weekend of August.
