Jamaica Flag Grace Jamaican Patties

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 cups GRACE COUNTER FLOUR
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1/3 cup water

METHOD / DIRECTIONS:

  1. Sift flour and salt in a bowl.
  2. Rub in fat, which should be cold and fairly hard.
  3. Add cold water gradually to make a stiff dough.
  4. Roll in thinly about 1/8cm on a floured board and into rounds of desired size.
  5. Put on filling, moistening edges with cold water, press together and prick the tops with a fork.
  6. Brush with a mixture of beaten eggs and water.
  7. Bake at 220C until nicely browned.

INGREDIENTS

  • 250 grams ground beef
  • 1 medium onion
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. GRACE CURRY POWDER
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper
  • GRACE CRUSHED PEPPER SAUCE
  • 2 Tbsps. breadcrumbs
  • 2 Tbsps. GRACE HELLO SOFT MARGARINE
  • 1 tsp. GRACE TOMATO KETCHUP

METHOD / DIRECTIONS:

  1. Melt margarine, add onion and hot pepper and fry, but do not brown.
  2. Add mince and other seasonings and brown lightly.
  3. Add breadcrumbs and cup stock or hot water.
  4. Cover and cook until mince is tender, adding more liquid if necessary. The mixture should be soft but not watery.
  5. Cool and drop by spoonful or round of pastry.
