St. Kitts & Nevis: Getting Around

Visitors require a temporary driver's license, valid for one year, which can be obtained from the Police Traffic Department for a fee of EC$50. All traffic keeps to the left (as in England), and international highway signs are used.

Taxis

Fares are fixed, and can be negotiated beforehand. Rates increase 50% between 10:00pm and 6:00am and there is an additional 20% for arranged trips between 6:00pm and 6:00am. Sample fares:

Ferry

Ferry Service Between Basseterre, St. Kitts and Charlestown, Nevis:

The Caribe Queen leaves twice a day Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday. The trip takes 45 minutes and costs EC$20.00 (or US$8.00).

The M.V. Sea Hustler goes back and forth twice a day, 7 days per week and also costs EC$20.00 (or US$8.00).
