Saint LuciaAttractions For Visitors During St. Lucia Holidays

By Louise Jones

 Travel / Cruise Reviews

St. Lucia Island is popular for its mineral baths, beautiful clean beaches, bays and banana plantations. The island, because of its stunning beauty, attracts tourists and visitors from all around the world. From well-developed hotels, resorts, shopping malls and taverns to well-reserved nature spots and natural resources, St. Lucia holidays offer many attractions for the tourists and visitors.

The Pitons is an attraction that people from all around the world come to see. The famous two majestic peaks in the area are Gros Piton and Petit Piton. These are two twin volcanoes. They are not active and are completely covered with lush green plants and vegetations. Climbing the pitons is a common activity for the visitors and tourists that come for St. Lucia holidays.

Bays and beaches in St. Lucia are world famous and must be visited during St. Lucia holidays. One of these bays is the Marigot Bay, located in south of Castries. The shore of this beach is very natural, lined with stunning palm trees. This bay is known as one of the most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. When coming for St. Lucia holidays, the place must be visited as it is a family picnic spot.

Rodney Bay is also a popular beach near Castries. It is a man-made lagoon and is well known for its taverns, resorts, hotels and amazing nightlife. It is also a centre of different water sports and activities in St. Lucia.

The capital city of St. Lucia is Castries. Due to many fires and disasters in the past, the city might look architecturally boring, but the city has one of the best public markets. The handicrafts, different fruits and vegetable are all very attractive for the visitor and must be tried during St, Lucia holidays.

Mount Soufrière is the only "drive-in" volcano in the world. The attraction is a lunar landscape. One can drive through the volcano on a zigzag forested road. There are trails and observation platforms to have a close look at the hissing steam and sulphur springs.

Diamond Botanical Gardens is a must see place for St. Lucia holidays. The famous Diamond Mineral Baths are also located here. These geological attractions are one of their kinds in Caribbean islands. In the gardens, there is also a beautiful Diamond Waterfall that keeps changing its colours, a number of times a day.

There are several breathtaking landscapes on the island that are worth seeing. Many view points are there on the island, one of these is Fond St-Jacques.

For tourists, who like discovering and exploration adventures, the north coast of the island is a great attraction. It is not a developed area and is never crowded. This part of the St. Lucia Island is in completely untouched form and is known as the natural reserve of Grand Anse. Different species of rare birds and animals, including dangerous snakes, sea turtles like green turtle, leatherback, loggerhead and hawksbill are found here. Other famous natural reserves in St. Lucia are the Maria Islands Nature Reserve and the Fregate Islands Nature Reserve. Turtle watching and bird watching is offered by only a few islands in Caribbean.
