The Atlanta Carnival 2008 Kicks-Off with a Festive Costume Display and Competition
Atlanta Caribbean Carnival 2008

WHO: The Atlanta Caribbean Carnival Bandleaders Association, the official
organizers of the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival, in partnership with Underground
Atlanta. The event is free and open to
the public, and everyone is welcome to attend.
WHAT: The
King & Queen of the Bands and Individual Competion involves festive
displays of select Carnival costumes.
Vying for the exclusive titles of the best King, Queen and Individual
costume winners of the 20th Annual Atlanta Caribbean Carnival, models will dance
to rythmic Caribbean music beats (i.e soca), as they exhibit the splendor and
beauty of various costumes.
Also included, will
be a special program with a lively DJ to kick-off the upcoming weekend of
festivities being held to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the Official
Atlanta Caribbean Carnival.

The main Atlanta Caribbean Carnival
events will be held in downtown Atlanta on Saturday, May 24, and
include a Parade of Bands, that
begins at 12:00 PM on West Peachtree, and ends with a Festival Village and
lively onstage entertainment in the
historic Auburn District-between Jesse Hill Jr. and Hillard Streets.
